The formation of a Black Brotherhood and sisterhood caucus was mainly dedicated
to the empowerment of the black working man and woman within the ATU, to assure
we have a voice within our ATU International Union so that our issues on the
local level and national levels would always be heard and addressed.
September 1, 2010 International President steps down and new appointments are in the making.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters all over the US and Canada…
I welcome you to the 45th Annual Black Caucus Conference in Dallas, Texas hosted by the membership, President Kenneth Day and the Executive Board of Local 1338.
I look forward to seeing every one of you this year in Dallas where we will have an exciting time fellowshipping together. Our theme this year is "Focus on the Future".
With all of the legislation and laws that have been put forward to cripple union power and stagnate our ability
to represent our members, we must put past hurts, pains and mistakes behind us and Focus on the Future. In order for us to stand strong and be united we must be on one accord.
"And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand
him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes
4:12
All over the country there have been massive cuts in transportation service and layoffs of our brothers and sisters within the ATU.
There is certain legislature out there that will be of benefit to our industry such as HR 3200, where the 200,000 rule for using capital dollars for operational assistance will be removed from this legislation.
Our International Union is asking every local to champion and help get this legislation passed. There are governors in states across the US who are working hard to get "Right To Work" on the ballot.
This is the first time in my adult life and my union career that I have seen an all-out war to destroy unions.
We must work hard and campaign hard for the re-election of President Barack Obama and work even harder to get a democratic majority in the House of Representatives. So we must "Focus on the Future"!
